The Relationships between Happiness and Meaning Essay Every person on earth experiences happiness as well as unhappiness. Even infants cry as well as laugh. Ultimately they grow to realize that there are things that make them happy just as there are situations that make them unhappy. Understanding the nature of these different things and/or situations is to know how the meanings of these things and/or situations are related to one’s happiness or unhappiness. Thus, happiness and meaning happen to be closely connected with each other.  There is a reason why we experience happiness or unhappiness. These reasons are the meanings of our experiences of happiness or unhappiness.     There are many ways to understand happiness. A person who is ecstatic is understood to be extremely happy. Another person may experience happiness as he or she enjoys life. Conversely, a person who does not really attempt to enjoy life may be satisfied with his or her life nevertheless. All of these people may be happy. Even so, all of them may have different reasons for being happy.     Prophets and sages have often stated that things on earth cannot always make us happy. A person who is truly happy with life because he or she enjoys a nearly perfect relationship with his or her spouse may lose the spouse to death. Another person may believe that material things, e.g. new cars, are responsible for his or her happiness. The person who loses his or her spouse will experience unhappiness, just as the individual who loses all of his or money would become depressed. People who believe that happiness is equivalent to material success may also develop â€Å"affluenza,†described in the following ways: (1) â€Å"The bloated, sluggish and unfulfilled feeling that results from efforts to keep up with the Joneses;†(2) â€Å"An epidemic of stress, overwork, waste and indebtedness caused by dogged pursuit of the American Dream;†and (3) â€Å"An unsustainable addiction to economic growth (Leon).† Perhaps the rich people who have committed suicide, e.g. Kurt Cobain, were suffering from affluenza. Regardless, it is generally believed that a person must find the meaning of his or her life to be truly happy (Brain). Hence, the person who loses his or her spouse has a couple of choices: (1) Either to commit suicide because he or she cannot deal with the unhappiness caused by the loss; or (2) Find reasons to be happy despite the loss.     Psychologists have found that people feel happy when they increase their understanding. In other words, knowing the meaning of the things in our world is bound to increase our happiness. Thus, many people feel satisfied when they read books. The person who was dependent on his or her spouse for happiness may find happiness in this way. Alternatively, the individual may decide to pursue a goal that helps to move the human society forward in some way. The meaning of life is also understood by people to be the service of God (Brain). Regardless of the meaning of life realized by the person who had believed that his or her spouse was responsible for his or her happiness; understanding what his or her life is worth may help the individual to experience satisfaction with life once again. Moreover, whether the person chooses to serve society or God, by knowing the meaning of his or her existence, the individual opens up to future experiences that may very well allow him or her to find happiness without the spouse. After all, pursuing a goal to fulfill the meaning of life may lead the person to joyful experiences. Hence, meaning and happiness could never be separated. With increasing popularity of computer games, and multimedia home PC users often need an unexpensive computer system upgrade. By building a custom computer one is able to combine componenets, and operating system to provide maximal gaming performance. Computers are often called number manipulators, because of their ability to run millions of mathematical operations per second (White 43). Computers use binary system of numbers, which allows them to operate system of microscopic switches called transistors found inside of computer chips. Binary system is defined as counting system that uses two digits one and zero (Gookin 49). A transistor is a basic building block of microchips; transistors are combined in formations called logic gates (White 39). â€Å"Transistor can only create binary information: one if current passes through or zero if current does not, to work with transistors†(White 39). Computer software uses Boolean logic, which is based on selecting true or false values used in computer programming (White 39). All personal computers have BIOS, which is an acronym for Basic Input Output System. The BIOS runs every time the computer is started, and it basically tells the computer how to act (White 19). The BIOS is a part of the boot up process, or a complex set of operations checking hardware that components are working properly. Besides BIOS and several other operations there is power–on self-test - POST being ran. POST test runs at the start up, and if it finds an error, it sends a warning message (White 5). Central processing unit – CPU is the most important part of the personal computer, all other components work as a bridge to CPU (White 59). The speed of the processor is usually defined by using units called megahertz (MHz, also million frequency waves per second). CPUs are generally divided into two categories- CISC and RISC. CISC – complex instruction set computing, uses many small instructions to carry out a single operations. CISC is a standard in today’s processors. RISC – reduced instruction set computing, uses less complicated instructions with simpler design. RISC microprocessors are cheaper, they produce less heat, and they are generally smaller in size compared to CISC. With less heat and smaller size RISC processors have great advantage in reaching higher frequencies with less danger of overheating. The major disadvantage and also reason why RISC microprocessors are not widely used, is less compatibility with available software. The earlier programs were written for CISC chips.

Physical punishment has been a problem in hitting their children so they can have discipline or not hitting them because it is not right, so what can parents do and what can they not do? Should the parents hit them to learn discipline, or should they not hit them and figure out another way to make them learn what discipline is? Because many parents do not know or are confused in showing their children how to gain discipline they do not know whether to hit them or not to hit them. Many people think that by hitting their children that they are showing them violence but other people say that if you do the children would understand that they did something wrong and would not repeat it and gain discipline. What can parents do? First of all parents feel that the children are theirs, and they can spank them when they misbehave. There are many factors that lead to physical punishment: parents were to young and not ready for children, parents are going trough a divorce and need to take out their anger on something or someone, or parents do not know another way to punish their children. These children grow up to be aggressive and often abusive towards others. Although parents think this is the only way of educating their children there are many other alternatives. There are other alternatives to punishing the children for their bad behavior. Less severe punishments besides spanking. First, they can take away their television privileges, computer use, and playing outside with their friends. Next, they could ground them for the weekend and cancel plans. Last of all parents could take the time to sit and talk to their children about their bad behavior. Physical punishment may cause a child psychological problems. First, if the physical punishment starts at an early age the child will be used to being physically punished, therefore, his or hers self-esteem may severely negative as he or she grows up. Second, it is a life-affecting act to physically punish a child because they will be traumatized. Eventually parents should think twice before they can physically punish their children. What they should think of is what problems they are causing the child in its life. In conclusion every parent must take consideration that the negative affects that spanking may cause a child.

Paul says to stay away from these people who stick to the law and follow the law but which are far from the true meaning of righteousn ess. They’d deny the power of God since they’d be only relying on themselves. Who are verses 6-8 speaking about? Verse 6~8 speaks about evildoers and impostors who will eagerly seek for place to dwell in, especially woman who are gullible and full of their own sins. Just like Jannes and Jambres who opposed Moses, they will be notable in the eyes of God, and their ways would not go far.They’d appear as if they are â€Å"righteous†and knows the truth about God, but the core difference would be their action to the faith which would be absent to them.
